Treat Hypertension BP- the Yogic way

Hypertension


Technically, it is not a disease per se; however, it can cause many complications and ailments if not treated early and adequately. It is a warning system of the body that all is not well.

 

Symptoms: Pain behind the head and neck while waking up. Restlessness, irritation, mental imbalance, headache, chest pain, perplexed state of mind and anger. Poor digestion. Reddening of eyes, palpitation, and a raised blood pressure.

 

Causes: Constipation, indigestion. Increased cholesterol levels in the blood, inefficient functioning of kidneys, and obesity. Wrong food habits, consumption of acidic foods. Excess of

salt, tea, and coffee. Lack of exercise, sedentary lifestyle. Stress.


Yogic Ways of Treating Hypertension


 1.     Food- No fried, spicy, junk or processed food; no excess salt, tea/coffee. Take food on time and with concentration. Avoid or reduce alcohol, smoking. 

2.     Asanas: Ardha Matsyendrasana, Vajrasana, Makarasana- 3 repetitions. 

3.     Pranayama: Anulom vilom-ten rounds.  Shitkari or Shitali with no retention for 5/7 minutes.  

4.     Relaxation: Yoga Nidra, Savasana or Makarasana- 10 minutes

5.     Meditation

6.   Do some selfless service.
